Sharad Navratri 2027 dates
Sharad Navratri 2027: 30 September – 9 October 2027
Sharad Navratri begins on Ashwin Shukla Pratipada. In 2027 Pratipada runs from 8:05 AM on 30 September to 5:34 AM on 1 October (New Delhi), so it does not touch sunrise on either day. Drik Panchang places Ghatasthapana on Thursday, 30 September, after Pratipada begins; some calendars (including some Kolkata panjikas) start Navratri on 1 October instead. Ashtami tithi spans two sunrises (7 and 8 October), so Durga Ashtami is on Thursday, 7 October, while Navami begins at 6:27 AM on 8 October, which brings Sandhi Puja and Maha Navami to Friday, 8 October.

Significance and rituals
Sharad Navratri celebrates the nine forms of Goddess Durga and her victory over Mahishasura. Devotees install the kalash, light an akhand jyoti, fast, recite the Durga Saptashati and perform Kanya Puja on Ashtami or Navami. Gujarat celebrates with garba and dandiya, Bengal with Durga Puja, South India with Golu (Bommai Kolu) and Ayudha Puja, and Mysuru with its Dasara procession.
