Privacy Policy

Free Panchang (freepanchang.org, served at freepanchang.org) is a free community service. We collect as little as possible.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-up.
- No advertising.
- No tracking cookies, and no cross-site tracking or profiling.
- This site’s own code and its analytics set no cookies (Google Translate sets one only if you use it; see below).
- We do not sell or share personal data.
Your location
If you tap “Use current location”, your browser asks for permission. The coordinates are used only to request that day’s Panchang from our own server and are not stored there. To show the name of the nearest town or city, your browser downloads a small file of place names for your general area (a 2° × 2° grid square, roughly 200 km across) from this site and finds the nearest place on your device; your exact coordinates are not sent to any third party for this. Your last location, time zone and city, and the place names already looked up, are saved in your browser’s localStorage on your device only, so the page remembers them next time. You can clear them at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see how quickly pages load, so we know which pages are useful. It does not use cookies or localStorage, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal data. For each page view, a small script from Cloudflare sends the page address (without the location details in the query string), the referring page, browser type and page-load timings to Cloudflare through this site’s own address. Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies.
Third-party services
- Google Translate – the language menu loads Google’s Website Translator. When you use it, page text is sent to Google, Google’s translator saves the language you chose in a “googtrans” cookie on this site for the browser session, and Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Google Fonts – fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- Open-Meteo – city search queries you type are sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service.
- GeoNames – the place-name data is from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and is served from this site, so GeoNames receives nothing from you.
- Hosting and Cloudflare – our host and Cloudflare keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability.
- FormSubmit – if you use the contact form, your name, email and message are delivered to us by email via FormSubmit.
Children
The site is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
