Janmashtami 2027 date, Ashtami and Rohini
Janmashtami 2027: Wednesday, 25 August 2027
Krishna Janmashtami is observed on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami (Purnimanta; Shravana in the Amanta calendar), with the main puja at Nishita, Hindu midnight. In 2027 Ashtami tithi runs from 8:24 PM on 24 August to 7:19 PM on 25 August, and Rohini nakshatra from 12:27 PM on 25 August to 11:42 AM on 26 August (New Delhi). Ashtami is the sunrise tithi on 25 August and Rohini is present at midnight that night, so Drik Panchang and most North Indian calendars list Janmashtami on Wednesday, 25 August, for Smarta and Vaishnava (ISKCON) followers alike.
Because Ashtami itself is present at midnight only on the night of 24 August, some calendars that give priority to Ashtami at Nishita list 24 August. If your temple or family follows that rule, check your local panchang.
