Some North Indian traditions also mark Hanuman’s birth on Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi, the day before Diwali. Follow your own temple or family panchang if it differs from the Chaitra Purnima date.
Significance
Hanuman, son of Vayu and Anjana, is honoured as the devoted servant of Rama and a symbol of strength, courage, humility and protection. Many devotees use the word “Janmotsav” rather than “Jayanti” for the day.
