Choti Diwali 2026 (Narak Chaturdashi)
Narak Chaturdashi 2026: Sunday, 8 November 2026 at sunrise, the same day as Diwali.
Why it falls on the same day as Diwali in 2026
Narak Chaturdashi (Choti Diwali) 2026: Sunday, 8 November at sunrise
Chaturdashi tithi holds sunrise on 8 November and Amavasya begins at 11:27 AM the same day. So the Narak Chaturdashi abhyang snan is done before sunrise on the 8th, and Diwali Lakshmi Puja follows that evening.
Abhyang snan muhurat
The snan is done before sunrise while Chaturdashi prevails. Exact times depend on your city’s moonrise and sunrise; check today’s Panchang for your location.
Kali Chaudas (7 Nov)
Kali Chaudas, observed at midnight, falls on the night of Saturday, 7 November.
Rituals
- Oil massage (abhyang) and ubtan before the bath.
- Light a lamp for Yama in the evening (where the custom is kept on Chaturdashi).
- Light diyas around the home.
